Beaches, history and wine

Discover the surroundings of our hotel

El Puerto de Santa María is a maritime city with ancient origins linked to civilizations such as the Phoenicians. With a rich history, its commercial activity reached its peak from the 17th century onwards with the production and export of Sherry wines, featuring wineries like the iconic Osborne. Its surroundings include 16 kilometers of fine, soft sandy beaches lapped by the waters of the Bay of Cádiz, as well as a blanket of pine forests, immortalized in the memoirs “La Arboleda Perdida” (The Lost Grove) by one of the city’s most distinguished sons, the renowned poet Rafael Alberti.

“The cuisine of Cádiz is rich in fresh fish and sherry wine.”

The local cuisine features delicious fresh seafood and fish brought in by local fishing boats, and time-honored recipes that have been updated, most of them accompanied by renowned local wines such as fino or oloroso sherry. Flamenco, majestic monuments like the Basilica of Our Lady of Miracles, the Puerto Sherry marina, located just steps from our hotel, and the Castle of San Marcos, commissioned by King Alfonso X the Wise, are must-see attractions for any traveler.
